Looking Back/Looking Ahead

Oh man! What a year 2011 turned out to be huh? First I want to say thanks to all the people that contributed photos and content, you are all GREAT! Secondly, thanks to everyone who checked out the zine this year, your great too!

Looking Back

I had originally planned on doing 12 issues in 2011, but after starting and completing the January issue in a month, I settled on the more reasonable 6 issues and I only missed it by one! Sure there were a few roadblocks and late nights with those 5 issues, but it was a lot of fun, and I met a ton of wonderful people.

Here is a quick rundown of how 2011 stacked up for the zine:

Total number of issues: 5
Most issues done in a year prior to 2011: 2
Total number of pages: 280

Total number of reviews: 211

Total number of Interviews/articles that didn’t happen (for various reasons): 10 (Grown Ups interview is the one I’m most bummed about not happening)
Total number of times Evan Weiss was featured: 3 (SAOTW Transmissions, IIOI Transmissions, feature interview)
Total number of times Richard Minino was featured: 2 (No Friends Euro Transmissions, New Mexican Disaster Squad A Sound Design)
Total number of phone interviews: 10
Combined total of minutes during those phone interviews: 273 minutes

Looking Ahead

While doing 5 issues this year was fun, it was also a lot of work. So much work that it actually felt like work and not something fun. I also feel that with trying to rush to get done with an issue, things like quality of interviews and layout design suffered.

So the plan for 2012 will be to do less issues with more time between to improve things like interviews, articles and design. Less quantity, more quality! Hopefully this will also give me sometime to finish some other projects and do more writing.

I am excited about what bands and artists that will be covered in 2012 and I have a lot of cool things planned.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support and readership!

-Adam
