NEW ISSUE!!! Manual Dexterity Music Zine May 2012
You probably notice that we did things a little bit different with the latest issue of Manual Dexterity. Instead of doing the standard zine that we usually do, we decided to have each article and interview be their own piece and then stuffed into a 7” record packaging. Colors of paper may vary from what’s shown. Copies will be available for purchase this weekend. Limited to 50...

Suggestions!
I’m looking for suggestions for albums to cover under the “A Sound Design” section of the zine. What are some album’s art that you adore or albums you think have really cool design or an unique packaging? Send your suggestions to mandexzine (at) yahoo (dot) com
Reviews
I’m slowly chopping away at the stack of reviews I have here and this is the first batch. Clicking on the highlighted band’s names will bring you to a website where the band has offered the release for free or for the “name your price” option.
Betterment Volume Two Volume Two, the latest output from this Florida band, is a little bit more raw/less polished than their previous EPs, but...

Totally Vague Update!
Here’s what’s been happening at the ManDex lately:
A new issue is in the works and will be a departure from the normal format and will be released on a special date in April, if all goes as planned.
The Signals Midwest album is killer! Thanks Tiny Engines!
The new Now, Now album is incredible!
Rediscovering The Jazz June, anyone else listen to them? So good!
Editing this thing....
Love this band + love this label! Stoked they’re working together!
tinyengines:
Welcome Long Island’s State Lines to the Tiny Engines family! Really really happy to add these guys to our roster. The band’s debut, Hoffman Manor, was one of my favorite releases last year and made me feel about 10 years younger than I actually am. If you read my year end list you’ll remember I mentioned I...

Manual Dexterity 2011 Year End Sampler!
Here’s a little New Years gift for everyone! It has 31 tracks from nearly all of the featured bands plus tracks from tons of other bands that made an impression on us this year.
Thanks to all the bands, labels and readers for a great year and we look forward talking with you all in 2012. Have an awesome New Years!

How it's Made: Zine Edition
Ever wondered how a zine gets made? No. I’m not surprised. It’s not rocket science or any kind of science actually, but It does take a lot of manual dexterity (see what I did there) to complete one.
First: Get yourself a stack of zines!
At this point the zines are already printed and trimmed to bleed. Manual Dexterity is designed on a standard 11” x 8.5” sheet of paper...
Looking Back/Looking Ahead
Oh man! What a year 2011 turned out to be huh? First I want to say thanks to all the people that contributed photos and content, you are all GREAT! Secondly, thanks to everyone who checked out the zine this year, your great too!
Looking Back
I had originally planned on doing 12 issues in 2011, but after starting and completing the January issue in a month, I settled on the more reasonable 6...
Manual Dexterity Year End Lists
Not another year end list! I know, I know, you’ve probably already read a thousand of these already, so I suggest you just skim this one and get back to work or whatever you are doing.
I’ll be posting some other 2011 recap zine stuff this week and the ManDex Compliation may be out this week, but probably next week.
Thanks!

New Issue Now Available!!!
Not since Sufjan Stevens Illinois has the state of Illinois been so well represented by music in one place. And that place is the latest issue of Manual Dexterity! Loosely related by geography, every band and artist in this issue is currently from, or made significant contributions to the Illinois music scene.
This issue has feature interviews with Alkaline Trio/In The Emergency Room member...
Attn: Bands/Labels
Today a new issue of Manual Dexterity will be released.
I thought it would be cool to make a sampler on Bandcamp where people can download some rad tunes and get a PDF of the new issue for FREE.
Any bands/labels want to contribute a song to this impromptu sampler? It can be new/old/rare/whatever. It would probably go over a lot better than the audio of me strumming a metal ruler on a...

Press for Manual Dexterity
Couple of new reviews about the Feb/March and April/May Issues in the latest Razorcake Magazine! Good or bad, I love it when people review the zine.
Feb/March 2011 Issue:
“An indie/punk music zine, leaning more towards the indie side of things, that occupies the strange stylistic purgatory between “zines” and glossier independent “magazines”—it feels like a black and white bootleg of a...

Hey Bands!
Lately, we’ve gotten a bunch of emails from bands asking for reviews and interviews, and we think it’s fantastic. We listen to everything that bands submit, and will pretty much review everything we get.
We usually keep a list of what bands emailed us and sometimes contact them for some of the smaller features in the zine like SIXES or Transmissions. If your band really blows us...
